This film started out as a kickstarter project but didn’t reach the goal to be founded. It was made anyway and the result is a thirty minute documentary about Martin Parr in the American South. It’s available on DVD for $20. I hope it’ll be also available for watching online in the future.

Just signed up for the Fotomarathon Hamburg in September. I’m really looking forward to it, but I think it’ll be a really big challenge to shoot 24 good photos of a defined topic in just twelve hours. Let’s see how this turns out.

You can go – as long as you have a camera with you every time you’re out – a day or two without making a photo and then get 15-30 frames when you least expect it.

You could use a flash like a certain guy does and try to make something interesting out of an uninteresting photograph, too.  Not that many people with qualified eyes will like it.  But, hey, if you are starved for content and need to post every day … at least you’ll have something to write about.

Then again, the same guy doesn’t even post his work.

You could call it an interview or just „Chris Weeks uses every opportunity teasing Eric Kim“. Anyway, it’s entertaining.

The Weight of Objects is a portrait project by Ramsay de Give and Kristen Joy Watts. Each diptych features a portrait of an individual and an object with a story.

A great photo project, which gains depth and tells nice stories through all the short statements of the portrayed.

Berlin, 11. Mai 2012, Fuji X100

Nachdem ich vor einer Weile schon die Dokumentation „The impassioned eye“ über Henri Cartier-Bresson gesehen habe und super begeistert war, freue ich mich demnächst ganz in Ruhe auch „L’amour tout court“, was so viel heißt wie „die Liebe selbst“, zu gucken. Aufgenommen wurde sie 2001 als Cartier-Bresson 92 Jahre alt war.

Nach zehn Stunden am Schreibtisch sitzen habe ich abends irgendwann genug davon. Das heißt aber nicht, dass ich genug vom am Bildschirm sitzen habe. Seit vorgestern vorgestern habe ich endlich so ein Laptop „Kühlpad“ damit ich das MacBook ohne mir die Beine zu verbrennen auch im Sessel nutzen kann. Ich habe mich für das Belkin Cushdesk entschieden und es funktioniert super und sieht auch gar nicht so furchtbar aus. Es könnte für meinen Geschmack aber gerne noch kleiner sein, es gibt das Ding aber nur in einer Größe.

Das ist der Trailer für die kommende Dokumentation von Tomas Leach über den großartigen New Yorker Street Fotografen Saul Leiter, dessen Retrospektive in den Hamburger Deichtorhallen ich blöderweise verpasst habe anzuschauen, ich Trottel. Freue mich jetzt um so mehr auf den Film.
