Einer meiner liebsten Fotografieblogs, Smogranch.com von Daniel Milnor, hat kürzlich seine Pforten geschlossen. Zum Glück allerdings wird er weiterhin Videos machen und hat einen neuen Blog gestartet, der im Gegensatz zu früher nicht aus langen Artikeln, sondern eher aus einzelnen Bildern und kurzen Gedanken besteht. Ich habe schon jetzt viel Spaß an seinem neuen Blog und möchte euch deshalb ans Herz legen ihn zu abonnieren: A Photographer at Large

Daniel Milnor hat eine neue Videoserie gestartet: Books I love. Das erste Buch „Voyages“ von Depardon sieht großartig aus und ich habe sofort den Drang es zu kaufen. Ich habe es auch auf Amazon gefunden, es ist allerdings derzeit nicht auf Lager. Außerdem ist’s auch nicht gerade ein Schnäppchen. Freue mich auf weitere Empfehlungen von Daniel.

Okokok, ja, schon wieder ein Link zu Daniel Milnor, aber ich kann ja auch nichts dafür, dass er so viel gutes schreibt. Dazu kommt noch dass ich gerade vieles nachlese, was ich schon seit Wochen fertig haben wollte.

Im Artikel geht’s jedenfalls darum wie essenziell wichtig Licht für ein gutes Foto ist und dass es von vielen unterschätzt oder schlichtweg falsch eingeschätzt wird.

I discovered the documentary work of Daniel Milnor already some time ago but got distracted by other photographers and styles. Now I’m back to reading a lot about his work and his thoughts as well as viewing his photographs. I’m trying to understand what he’s doing and why he’s doing it. Gone are the days of skipping over blogposts with a bunch of photos without reading the text accompanying them. Or at least that’s how I want it to be.

Daniel also does a lot of videos in which he presents photos and gives a back story and some advice. One of the best is about environmental portraits and you can watch it below.
