11 Takeaways From Zuckerberg’s First Interview Since Facebook’s IPO

People at Facebook are used to the press saying good and bad things,“ he said. What motivates Facebook employees „is building stuff that they’re proud of. This isn’t just Facebook. This is universal … It’s a great time for people to stay and double down.

Mark Zuckerberg yesterday at TechCrunch Disrupt, giving his first interview since the IPO.

Facebook Finally Cracks Down On Auto-Sharing Spam With “10-Second Rule”

Josh Constine:

If you hate accidental auto-sharing, you’re in luck. Now you have to be watching or reading something for at least 10 seconds before Facebook apps can auto-share the activity to your Timeline.

Thank you, facebook!

Facebook stops supporting webkit browsers

Facebook:

You’re using a web browser we don’t support.
Try one of these options to have a better experience on Facebook.

Facebook stops supporting webkit browsers. That’s a bold move, which I don’t understand. Yeah, Chrome is made by Google and they are not best friends with Facebook, but Chrome recently became the ‚most used Web browser‚. Besides, the webkit engine is great in any regards.
So does anyone know something about that move by facebook?

Update: Okay, I might have gotten that wrong. Facebook isn’t saying that they stopped supporting webkit browsers – but they definitely don’t recommend using them either, which is still awkward.

In Facebook Deal for Instagram, Board Was All But Out of Picture

WSJ:

Mr. Zuckerberg owns 28% of Facebook’s stock, and controls 57% of its voting rights, giving him the freedom to act independently if he wants. Mr. Systrom, similarly, owns about 45% of his company. That control means investors must accept the fact that the CEOs can move quickly.

Genius.

Instagram + Facebook

Garrett Murray:

A two year old company with nearly 30 million users on multiple mobile platforms still not making a dime and continuing to take millions of dollars in funding? Yeah, selling to Facebook was probably a good call. In the end, though, I think there’s a high likelihood users lose in this deal.

Because Facebook is stupid and for old people

harhar.

Facebook kauft Instagram

Mark Zuckerberg:

I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.

That’s why we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.

Hacking is Important

randsinrepose:

Hackers are allergic to process not because they don’t understand the value; they’re allergic to it because it violates their core values. These values are well documented in Zuckerberg’s letter: “Done is better than perfect”, “Code wins arguments”, and that “Hacker culture is extremely open and meritocratic”. The folks who create process care about control, and they use politics to shape that control and to influence communications, and if there is ever a sentence that would cause a hacker to stand up and throw his or her keyboard at the screen, it’s the first half of this one.

Yammer goes Facebook

Maria @ Yammer:

We launched a series of features – Ticker, Yammer Pages, and Yammer Files – designed to make content social, bringing together business people, conversations, data, and content into a single interface optimized for social discovery.

Paul Ripke beantwortet Facebookfragen
