Die Fotografie hat mich wieder mit aller Kraft gepackt.

Es ist unglaublich wie viele Fotomöglichkeiten sich an jeder Ecke verstecken, wenn man nur mal wieder die Augen aufmacht während man so durch die Welt irrt.
Ebenfalls unglaublich ist, dass mich diese Tatsache nach Jahren immer noch fasziniert und in Strahlen ausbrechen lässt wenn mal wieder ein gutes Bild seinen Weg auf meine Speicherkarte gefunden hat.

Gestern erst hat mir jemand gesagt „Man merkt dir richtig die Freude an der Fotografie an„. Das hat mich sehr gefreut und ich muss feststellen: Er hat Recht.
Fotografie ist genau das für mich: Pure Freude. Nichts muss, alles kann. Es gibt kein richtig und kein falsch. Es gibt nur meine Sicht auf die Welt und was ich daraus mache.

Das war etwas kitschig, aber da müsst ihr jetzt einfach durch.

Da brauche ich gar nichts weiter zu sagen.

Light is essential to photography.

Jep. Bewusst war mir das schon lange, wirklich aktiv darauf geachtet habe ich aber nie. In letzter Zeit habe ich aber immer wieder fest gestellt, dass es ganz oft unter anderem das Licht ist, das zwischen einem interessanten und einem uninteressanten Foto unterscheidet. Ich war letztens oft morgens unterwegs und es war einfach nur grauer Himmel und kein Sonnenstrahl. Wenn dann doch mal die Sonne durch kam und Licht und Schatten entstanden, wurde alles besser.

CSS isn’t a particularly difficult language to understand. You select things, and change the values of different properties. There is no logic, no math, no object oriented concepts, no security concerns… It largely reads like plain English. Yet, understanding it and being really good at it are pretty far apart. I became a member of Magnum Photos in 1967. It allowed me to go over to Paris and sit in the office every night, for hour after hour after hour, looking at contact sheets of people like Elliott Erwitt or Sebastião Salgado or Henri-Cartier Bresson. The first thing you learn is how much work they put in to make a collection. It’s not just one roll of film that they’ve got lucky on – they’ve used lots of rolls of film. And every time they’ve pressed the shutter, they’ve thought the shot was worthwhile before; at the end of the film, admitting to themselves that most of the shots were crap. Now that’s a wonderful learning process – to see what they chose and what they discarded.

Es gäbe noch viel mehr aus diesem kurzen Text von David Hurn zu zitieren, deshalb kann ich nur sehr empfehlen alles zu lesen. Aber dieser obige Teil stach für mich besonders heraus, weil ich genau das in den letzten Tagen feststelle. Ich laufe ewig darum, drücke hier und da auf den Auslöser und es komm nur Scheisse bei rum. Und dann irgendwann, ist doch was gutes dabei. Der Trick ist halt nur das eine gute Foto zu zeigen und nie auf zu hören sich um zu sehen und den Auslöser zu drücken.

So what makes a photographer is taking a lot of pictures. Not talking about it or analysing it – leave that until afterwards, or let other people do it. You need to shoot pictures and you need to look at contact sheets of the great photographers.

Wie ihr euch vielleicht noch erinnert habe ich irgendwann mal am Castrol Foto Award teilgenommen, bei dem man als einer der 12 Besten in den Castrol Fotokalender 2012 rein kommt.
