Hey guys! Instead of posting a lot of small link posts throughout the week at clutter up the feed, I thought it might be better to post one article at the end of the week that highlights the best articles, tools, thoughts, etc I found over the past week. So here we go. What do you think?

• Web Standards Killed the HTML Star
  Are HTML and CSS gurus no longer needed in todays web?

• Use your Mac vhosts with your iPhone and iPad
  Incredibly helpful for local development. Could be a little annoying if your Mac gets a new IP address often and another problem is that for me the normal internet connection isn’t working.

• iOctocat
  Pretty good GitHub iOS App with a nice iOS 7 design. It’s free but has two in app upgrade options for more functionality.

• Ten reasons we switched from an icon font to SVG
  Ian Feather explains the reasons and thoughts behind switching the Lonely Planet website from an icon font to svg images. Very interesting read.

• Combine Google Fonts
  A handy trick for saving http requests if you use several different Google web fonts.

• Smooth state animations with animation-play-state
  It’s still an experimental technology and needs some vendor prefixes and is generally subject to change, but being able to stop and start an animation with CSS is pretty cool.

• Finding real happiness in our jobs
  I think the title of this article by Christian Heilmann is a bit misleading, but nevertheless worth a read. It’s about the state of the web, what we’ve done with it and what we should do.

• Cascading HTML style sheets
  Almost 20 years ago — a proposal for CSS. A lot has happened since then. Without this proposal I’d perhaps be an Astronaut or a Rock Star.

• Best of CodePen 2013
  The guys around Chris Coyier put together a page highlighting the most popular CodePens of 2013.

• The Value of Content
  Andy Beaumont says we are fighting the second world pop-up war. He might be right.

A collection of resources about the various aspects of responsive web design.

Wow, nice work by Brad Frost and Pon Kattera who put this thing together. Before you google on a Responsive Design/Development topic you should definitely check this resource first. There seem to be articles on everything: Strategy, Design Tools, Layout, Media Queries, Typography, and so on.

Since I’m not able to review the Leica M Monochrom for you myself, I thought I could at least put together a collection of reviews which are already out there so you can get an idea of the camera. I’m sure there will be a lot more in the next few weeks, but since then here you go:

Nachdem die Aktion „Ein ♥ für Blogs“ schon vor 6 Monaten sehr gut angekommen ist, dachte sich der Stylespion Kai, man sollte die Aktion wiederholen. Ich finde das ne tolle Idee und bin natürlich auch wieder mit von der Partie.

Saschagrafie

Sascha war vor gar nicht allzu langer Zeit plötzlich da mit seinem Blog. Und es kamen wirklich gute, lange, inhaltsstarke Artikel. Leider ist jetzt seit nahezu genau einem Monat Ruhe dort. Ich hoffe, dass es bei ihm bald weitergeht. Vielleicht stupst ihn ja dieses Herz ein wenig an.

Freunde von Freunden

Hierbei handelt es sich um einen ganz neuen Blog der etwas anderen Art. Es geht um Menschen, Fotos, Videos und Interviews. Auf sehr schöne Art werden die unterschiedlichsten Menschen mit Fotos und Interview vorgestellt. Egal ob Moderatorin, Illustrator oder Make-Up Artist, alles ist vertreten. Interessant: Man sieht schon welche Artikel als nächstes erscheinen werden.

Shockmotion

Auf den Blog von Stefan Kohrs bin ich vor kurzem erst gestoßen und seit dem habe ich das Gefühl taucht er überall auf. Absolut auf dem richtigen Weg ist er mit seinem Blog indem es um Kameras, inspirierende Links, Videos, Fotografen und digitale Bildbearbeitung geht. Achja, wenn ich mich nicht täusche, wohnt er sogar, wie ich auch, in Hamburg.

Calvin Hollywood

Calvin wird wohl vielen von euch schon ein Begriff sein. Dennoch möchte ich ihn hier gerne vorstellen, denn sein Name ist Programm. Täglich ein Eintrag, oft mit Blick hinter die Fotografen- und Photoshopkulissen, sehr sympathisch und menschlich das Ganze. War mal auf einem Seminar von ihm, kann ich euch nur empfehlen!
Calvin hat noch einige weitere Seiten, bzw. hat seine Finger noch in vielen Sachen mit drin. Am Besten einfach mal etwas bei ihm umherklicken.

Das war also meine kleine aber feine Auswahl für die „Ein Herz für Blogs“-Aktion. Kann euch wirklich nur empfehlen in alle vier mal reinzuschauen. Viel Spaß!

Mittlerweile hat wohl schon jeder von der Aktion mitbekommen, die Kai von StyleSpion.de ins Leben gerufen hat. Es geht darum die deutsche Blogosphäre mal wieder ein wenig zu vernetzen und sich einfach „gern zu haben“. Dazu kann jeder ein paar seiner liebsten deutschsprachigen Blogs vorstellen. Dabei darf es auch gerne über den eigenen Themenbereich hinausgehen.

Kwerfeldein ist wohl DER deutschsprachige Blog zum Thema Fotografie. Dort gibt es viel zu lesen und zu lernen. Und das auf eine nette, irgendwie persönliche Art und Weise. Weiter so, Martin!

Ja, was soll man dazu sagen? Marcel bloggt alles was ihm in den Kopf kommt. Am schönsten ists allerdings, wenn er zeichnet und das dann auch zeigt. Denn das kann er wirklich.

Jojos illustrierter Blog

Jojo ist wohl der bekannteste deutsche Comicblogger. Top gezeichnet, schöner Stil, lustig. Was will man mehr? Naja, früher gab es mal häufiger Einträge, aber er ist eben jetzt auch unter der arbeitenden Bevölkerung. Da sei ihm das verziehen.

AMY&PINK

Party, Musik, Sex, Design, Videos, Tagebuch. Marcel und Hannah schreiben einen authentischen, sehr unterhaltsamen Blog, bei dem man manchmal nicht weiß, was man davon halten soll. :D
