Sophos, the IT security and data protection company has a new warning on its Naked Security blog today that a fake Instagram app is infecting Android devices with malware.

This goes to show how fast the creators of dirty software can move as Instagram launched for Android users a few weeks ago hitting one million downloads in just 24 hours.

According to Sophos, malware authors are distributing their programs with applications cunningly disguised as the popular photo application

The upcoming Leica Monochrome digital rangefinder (with a black and white only sensor) will have a M9-like body. We are not going to see a new M10 camera on May 10 – a completely new M10 will probably be announced in September during Photokina.

Ich freue mich auf den 10. Mai – auch wenn ich mir sicher keine mehrere Tausend Euro teure Kamera kaufen werde, die nur schwarzweiß Fotos machen kann, auch wenn diese wahrscheinlich großartig aussehen werden.

Total gut: die Mitarbeiter der Hamburger Müllabfuhr machen mit Mülltonnen Pinhole Fotos von ihrer Stadt. 1100 Liter große Container wurden zu Pinhole Kameras umgebaut, mit dem die Männer Bilder von ihren Lieblingsorten machen, die sie stets sauber halten.

Der Name ist bescheuert und die App ist hässlich. Es ist trotzdem die beste Möglichkeit WordPress Blogeinträge vom iPad aus zu veröffentlichen. Man kann Artikelbilder vergeben und sogar Custom Fields anlegen. Die App unterstützt außerdem auch noch reichlich andere Dienste.

Wieso die offizielle WordPress App so hinterher hinkt verstehe ich nicht. Zum Kommentare beantworten ist sie top, danach hört’s aber auch schon auf. Sehr schade.

However despite being the most popular ‘read later’ application on the market, it has often lost in the ‘coolness’ department to competitor Instapaper and more recently, Readability. Well no more. Weiner and his team have been brave enough to refresh when things are going rather well and have elevated their status from the “Windows” of read later apps (at least according to Marco Arment, founder of competitor Instapaper) to the Apple, the innovator.

Mit diesem Schritt haben sie sich selbst aus dem Spiel genommen – zumindest wenn es um das ursprüngliche später LESEN geht. Klar, man kann mit Pocket lesen, man kann aber auch Videos gucken und Bilder anschauen. Darunter leidet das Lesen und Pocket kann da weder mit Readability noch mit Instapaper mithalten.
Wenn ich in mein Pocket schaue, sehe ich einen Haufen Kram, bebildert. Ich fühle mich visuell überfordert, genauso wie es mir oft bei Pinterest und Facebook geht. Ich will keine irgendwie zusammen gestückelten Kästen, die alle um meine Aufmerksamkeit ringen. Ich will eine Liste mit guten Artikeln, die ich in Ruhe in bestmöglich aufbereiteter Textform lesen kann. Zum Glück gibt es Instapaper. (Und irgendwann QUOTE.fm Read)

Ich will damit nicht sagen, dass Pocket nicht groß bleibt oder noch größer wird. Offenbar gehen sie den richtigen Schritt, wenn die am häufigsten gespeicherte Domain YouTube ist. Es ist nur einfach nicht das richtige für mich und ich glaube die „coolness“ von der Zee spricht wird auch weiterhin Instapaper behalten.

Ein sehr guter und richtiger Schritt, dessen Beispiel möglichst viele folgen sollten.
Marco Arment hat sich das Innovator’s Patent Agreement aber mal genauer angeschaut und ist auf einige Problemstellen gestoßen.
Ich für meinen Teil freue mich aber einfach auf „Pull-to-Refresh“ in den QUOTE.fm Apps und glaube in das Gute in den (Twitter-)Menschen.
