The International Street Photography Awards are now accepting submissions from street photographers around the world. Twenty esteemed judges are looking for photographs that display a unique style in this genre that crosses over into portraiture, documentary and fine art photography.

Na, dieses Jahr ein wirklich besonderes Streetfoto gemacht? Dann nicht zögern, einsenden! Hier gibt es die Finalisten aus dem letzten Jahr zu sehen. Das gibt euch vielleicht einen Anhaltspunkt, welche Art Streetfotos bei der Jury gut ankommt.

Cheryl Dunn möchte ja aus Everybody Street, einer Kurzdokumentation über Street Photographer in New York City […] eine neue Doku in Spielfilmlänge machen und hat für die Finanzierung auf Kickstarter zurück gegriffen. Und bereits seit dem 19. November war das doch recht hohe Ziel von 45.000$ erreicht!

Nicolas Hermann:

As for creating an exhibition, I have met people who are interested and willing to back me up, but, above all, I need to discover new countries, get more experience and test all the possibilities of my camera before showing my work.

Nicolas Hermann war sechs Wochen in Indien unterwegs und hat einige fantastische Street Fotos mit gebracht. Der Leica Blog hat ihn interviewt und zu meiner Ãœberraschung musste ich fest stellen, dass er neben der Fotografie einen ganz normalen Job hat und sich einer Ausstellung noch nicht gewachsen fühlt. Seine Fotos sind großartig und alle mal eine Ausstellung wert. Meine Meinung.

Mit der Ãœberschrift ist eigentlich schon alles gesagt.
Robin Preston veranstaltet am 3.12. einen Street Photography Workshop in Köln. Ich hatte da vor ein paar Tagen drauf hin gewiesen und bedauert, dass es keinen Termin in Hamburg gibt. Zu meiner Ãœberraschung hat Robin es gelesen und hätte Lust nach Hamburg zu kommen – vorausgesetzt es finden sich genügend Leute.

Daher meine Frage: Wer hätte generell Interesse daran? Inhalte und Preis wären dann wohl ähnlich dem in Köln.

Peter Earl McCollough:

One of the things I love about street photography is going home and finding people, things and situations in my photos I didn’t notice initially. There’s almost always dirty looks, strange socks, pretty earrings, people arguing in the distance or, my favorite, people staring back at me with unease. When I come across these things it reminds me of a scene in a movie where a photographer develops his photos only to find mysterious markings he later discovers to be foreshadowing.

Trevor Marczylo:

I never give it much thought on what I do, I just have a strong passion for capturing emotion and documenting a moment to tell a story. I don’t start my day out to try and produce art I just leave my house with my camera in my hand and simply document as I see.

In ihrer gemeinsamen Ausstellung zeigen die Fotografen Kay von Aspern, Mario Cuic, Siegfried Hansen, Natalie Opocensky, Christian Reister, Elisabeth Schuh, Guido Steenkamp, Andreas Stelter und Thorsten Strasas, wie sie Zufall mit rascher Auffassungsgabe zu multiplizieren vermögen.

Würde ich in Berlin wohnen, würde ich mir die Ausstellung der seconds2real Fotografen nicht entgehen lassen. Ihr habt noch bis zum 30. Oktober Zeit im Kunsthaus Meinblau immer donnerstags & freitags von 16 bis 19 Uhr und samstags & sonntags von 14 bis 19 Uhr vorbei zu schauen.
