Na und? Es geht hier doch nicht um eine exakte Darstellung der Realität, sondern um einen möglichst schönen Desktophintergrund. Besonderes dieses Statement von David Kaplan ist doch lächerlich:

Apple has once again altered the Universe according to their whim. They moved/removed many stars, and got rid of a whole galaxy.

Kaplan’s not entirely sure if the M110 galaxy is still visible since he last looked, but suspects it would be. I think he underestimates Apple. You wanted to know what they’re using their cash hoard for? Two words: Death Star.

Noch eine App, die es gerade günstiger im App Store gibt. Frisch aus der offenen beta ist OutBank jetzt im App Store angekommen. Derzeit noch zum Einführungspreis von 29,99€ statt 39,99 €. Ich habe die beta schon ausführlich getestet und das hat mir alles schon sehr gut gefallen. Ich bin daher jetzt wohl schon so angefixt, dass ich mit OutBank früher oder später kaufen werde, auch wenn ich mir noch nicht ganz sicher bin ob der Preis gerechtfertigt ist, wenn nicht wirklich Features nach der Betaphase hinzukamen. Gerne mehr zur App sobald ich sie habe.

Die iOS App iOutBank ist übrigens ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen und nutze ich ständig.

Ich teste gerade mal wie es sich mit Safari lebt. Installierte schon die ein oder andere Extension, was mir aber wirklich noch fehlte, ist die Möglichkeit direkt aus der Adresszeile mit Google zu suchen oder sogar eigene Suchkürzel einzurichten. Es gibt Extensions, die das machen, allerdings funktioniert irgendwie (noch) keine mit Safari 5.1 unter Lion. Ich habe jetzt die Omnibar gefunden, die immerhin das Suchen bei Google ermöglicht, was schonmal sehr gut ist. Bei Wikipedia oder so könnte ich eigentlich auch mit Alfred suchen.

Wow, das ist ziemlich cool. Ich habe das „Teilen“-Feature noch nicht weiter getestet, aber wenn man man Alben mit einzelnen Personen teilen kann, die keinen einen Googleaccount haben, könnte das die Lösung für viele professionelle Fotografen sein, die sich zuvor auf die MobileMe Galerie verlassen haben. Was meint ihr, Steffen und Paddy?

TechCrunch fasst schön zusammen, was mir auch durch In The Plex noch mal deutlich vor Augen geführt wurde, aber eigentlich jedem klar sein sollte: Google hat fast überall im Netz und auch an vielen Stellen offline seine Finger im Spiel und es ist spannend zu sehen in welchen Bereichen sie sich durchsetzen werden.

Eine FAQ über den Wandel von MobileMe zur iCloud beantwortet endlich einige bislang noch unklare Punkte: Demnach bietet iCloud weiterhin Web-Zugriff auf Mail, Kontakte, Kalender sowie Find my iPhone. Back to my Mac bleibt ebenfalls iCloud-Bestandteil. Abgesägt werden dahingegen iDisk, MobileMe-Galerie und iWeb-Publishing – diese Dienste funktionieren nicht nach dem 30. Juni 2012 nicht mehr.

Autsch, das ist schmerzlich, die MobileMe Galerie wird es in Zukunft nicht mehr geben. Ich habe das nicht geglaubt, wurde nun aber eines bessern belehrt. Damit werden die Diskussionen bei Steffen und Paddy (eins, zwei) nun wirklich wichtig.
